Valentine’s Day is Almost Here…
Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007Here are a few tips for making sure that your sweetie gets a knockout gift for Valentine’s Day.
*Find a local florist to fill your order.
While it may be easier to just hop online and order flowers with the first online floral retailer that you see you will end up paying service fees and a delivery fee will be taken out of the price that you pay. You may end up with much, much less that what you bargained for. Find a local florist who will hand deliver your floral purchase. That way the only fees you will pay are tax and delivery. Also, you can never beat the personal attention that you will get when dealing with a local florist.
The easiest way to tell if you are dealing with a local florist online is to go straight to the Contact Us or About Us page. Look for the address and make sure it is local. If something should happen to go wrong with your order you want to make sure that you can reach a knowledgeable person instead of a customer service call center.
*Read the fine print.
Do you want your loved one to receive flowers from Fed-Ex and then have to arrange them herself? That’s what will happen if you order from one online retailer. You will have to pay for the vase and the flowers separately, plus delivery. Once the recipient receives their flowers they will find them wrapped in cardboard, separate from the vase. The flowers aren’t professionally arranged, even though you will pay the professionally designed price!
*Order Early!
Order your Valentine’s Day flowers at least three or four days before the big day. You will be able to order whatever you would like and have your choice of delivery times, as the day gets closer, delivery times fill up, lessening your chance of getting that perfect gift delivered to the office or within a short time span.
* Have some patience and think ahead.
Valentine’s Day is the biggest flower buying day of the year. If you are picking up your flowers from the florist on your way home you are going to have to stand in line. 4:30 - 6:30 is the busiest time for florists and there will be a wait. If you can, call when you are leaving work to see if the florist can have something ready for you by the time you get home. This will keep you from having to wait on the florist to make you something on the spot.
*What are your specials?
If you just want a little something to let your honey know you are thinking of her ask your florist what their Valentine’s Day specials are. Most times they have smaller arrangements that are easier on the wallet yet still as thoughtful!
I hope that you find these tips helpful and hope that you have a flowerful Valentine’s Day!
