I’ve Been on Hiatus.

April 29th, 2008

First of all, I want to apologize for the lack of updates that I’ve made to the blog lately.  There have been so many positive things going on with the shop and life in general that I just, honestly, have put the blog on the back burner (Shame on me!!).

I love keeping you all posted and I hate that I haven’t been doing that.  But, here’s what has been going on.

1.  I was elected as the new Village Clerk/Treasurer for the Village of Felicity, Ohio.  My term began on April 1st and I attended classes in March as well.  I’ve been working at the Village office just about every single hour that I haven’t been at the flower shop and I’ve adjusted the shop hours until I get the hang of the clerk position.
2.  Our new hours.  We are now open from 10 am - 5pm except on Wednesday we are open from 10am - 1pm.  Saturday we are open from 10 am - 3 pm and we’re closed on Sundays.  We are going to keep this schedule into the summer and we will return to our 9am opening time in the fall of 2008.

However, don’t fear.  We will still be making deliveries for funerals early in the morning so our new hours will not effect our delivery schedule.

3.  Deliveries.  We are reducing the number of deliveries that we make each day to combat rising gas prices and we are trying our hardest not to have to raise delivery prices.  Our delivery schedule is as follows.

10:00 am- 1st round of deliveries made for orders placed in advance.

1:00- Deliveries placed before noon, includes all orders to be delivered to the local school districts.

4:00- Final delivery of the day.  Orders placed after 3:30 will be delivered the following day.  However, please inquire about our special messenger service available for an extra charge.

We feel by raising the number of deliveries made with each trip we will be able to keep from raising our delivery prices, for now.

All of this information is, of course, subject to change and as gas prices rise we will do everything in our power to keep from raising prices.

Also, our website is getting ready for a major overhaul.  Stick with us as we transition into a new skin.  Online shopping is on the horizon and we can’t wait to unveil our new site you you!

We are so glad to be your florist in Felicity, Ohio.  We hope that you know you mean the world to us.

Please call me if you have any questions about our new hours.

Thanks!!

Heather

Is the Bloom Off at FTD?

February 8th, 2008

FTD, burdened with debt following a stint in the hands of private equity, finds itself in a squeeze play between its two main rivals. Both 1-800-Flowers.com and Teleflora have entered retail and wholesale businesses FTD has long dominated. To make matters worse, the $19 billion industry is slowing along with the economy.

Florists Urge FTC to Investigate 1800Flowers.com “Free Shipping”

November 20th, 2007

Over 100 florists across the United States, Canada, and the UK have signed a complaint issued to the FTC. Customers are being lured into purchasing flowers from 1800Flowers because of “free shipping” claims. The problem that florists have (and consumers should have) with this is that 1800Flowers isn’t “shipping” the flowers at all!

1800 takes orders placed on their website for same day delivery and charges a service fee just for handling a customers order then, the order is electronically passed onto a local florist who will then process and deliver the order. The local florist is required to take their delivery charge from the full amount that was sent to them to process the order. The “shipping” fee that 1800Flowers is waiving is actually just a service or handling fee.

When Words are Not Enough…

October 26th, 2007

Let flowers speak what words can’t say.

When you lose a loved one or close friend the grief that ensues is overwhelming.  What should you say?  How do you express your sympathy?  There is one thing that you will never have to worry about when you rely on Heather at Felicity Flowers to create your sympathy tributes is that you will never be taken advantage of.

I understand that there are some florists who will try to take advantage of situations such as funerals or even weddings but, being the wife of a local funeral director, I understand that the last thing that a greiving person wants to have happen is to felt taken advantage of.  I personally promise that each and every memorial tribute from our shop will be handled with the utmost care and respect for you as a customer.  Even if you are calling from many states away we still look forward to helping you with your funeral flower order.

Worried about excess delivery charges?  We offer free delivery to the following local funeral homes:
Charles H. McIntyre Funeral Home in Felicity, Ohio
EC Nurre Funeral Home in Bethel, Ohio and
Cahall funeral home in Georgetown, Ohio

You can watch a video of our beautiful memorial tributes and sympathy flower offerings by following this link:

On top of beautiful sympathy flowers that can be ordered by friends and family we also offer many beautiful tributes and unique options for the casket.  Ask about the digital photo frame that can be added into any casket spray or easel that can easily display photos from a digital camera.  It’s the perfect way to remember a loved one.

We take your business seriously and we promise that we will more than exceed your expectations.
